There is nothing you know which you have not memorized.

In other words, if you haven’t memorized it, you really don’t know it. (Disagree? Read here for further explanation.)

Attempting to know without attempting to memorize is futile. Our focus here is to memorize Scripture. Five minutes is all you need.

The Process

  1. .

“The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.” – the first statement of the Assemblies of God’s “Statement of Fundamental Truths”, the non-negotiable tenets of faith that all Assemblies of God churches adhere to.

In the beginning was the Word…” – (John 1:1, NIV)

There are many disciplines that the follower of Jesus can pursue. On this site, we are focusing on just one — engagement with the Word through Scripture memorization.

That’s right. Memorizing, or as it says in Scripture, “I have hidden your word in my heart…” (Psalm 119:11, NIV)

5 Minutes. Begin there. Just spend the next 5 minutes committing Scripture to memory. Start with Hebrews 1:1, NIV. (If you hover your cursor over that reference, the Scripture will popup. In the popup window, click on “MORE” to open in a new browser tab.)
